                                          About Us

  Our Amazing Director Team

Every staff member at Staten Island Day Camp shares the same goal; to keep our campers emotionally and physically safe, while ensuring them an incredible summer experience.

The SIDC Director Team is made up of a group of talented professionals in both Education and Psychology. Our Director Team is like no other day camp on Staten Island. It is the backbone of the camp community, and they are committed to fostering personal relationships with campers, parents and staff alike. Throughout the year, our Director team meets regularly to plan and prepare for the upcoming summer to ensure a successful summer experience for our campers. Staff training is the core of our success. Many of our own day camp standards meet and exceed those in the recreation industry (e.g. First Aid & CPR - done annually - even before the certification expires!). We confidently encourage you to compare our program, training, professional expertise, and see the difference. Come experience the tradition of the “Ultimate Day Camp Experience” at SIDC.

The Directors are all on site all day every day.

SENIOR STAFF ORGANIZATIONAL CHART: Staten Island Day Camp's administrative team is comprised of professionals with outstanding qualifications. Please click on the SIDC Staff Organizational Chart to view the chart and learn more about the qualifications of these individuals.

Staten Island Day Camp only hires as counselors individuals who are of college age or beyond. Our counselors are typically college students or individuals who have completed college and are working in the field of public or private education.

We do not hire high school students as counselors!

We screen our applicants carefully during our interview process. The  senior staff members who interview candidates have considerable experience in this area. All SIDC camp staff must undergo background checks at the state and federal levels.

All counselors are required to attend an intensive training program prior to the first day of camp, which is organized and run by the Executive Director who is assisted by the Directors and Asst. Directors. All counselors receive a staff manual and the agendas for these meetings include a wide range of topics. Camper safety and counselors rules of conduct, however, are major themes of both sessions.
Mandated counselor meetings are held weekly after the campers have been dismissed.  The agenda covers timely topics related to the camp calendar. Camper safety, camp rules and counselor conduct are a part of every meeting.

Please open the Organizatinal Chart above and view the qualifications of the senior staff.
