The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene:  
This licensing agency inspects the camp for proper staffing ratios and credentials, plans and medical preparation prior to issuing a license. It then visits the camp to make sure that the environment established is safe for children. It is also a resource the camp can rely upon in the event that a health issue arises during the camping season.
