Dear Parents,
Our first day of camp is Monday, June 28.
It is my hope that the information provided
below will enable you and your camper(s) to
have a smooth camp beginning.
1.
Campers Riding A Bus To Camp:
For those parents whose children will be
riding the bus, the bus may arrive at a time
somewhat different than the time given to
you for the first few days of camp. Please
do not be concerned. Our drivers will
undoubtedly come across unexpected delays,
at many household as parents, especially of
our youngest campers, orient their children
to the camp bus. Of course, there is always
the issue of normal traffic congestion on
Staten Island. Please have your child ready
for the bus ten-fifteen minutes earlier than
the time given to you in the event your bus
is ahead of schedule. Our goal is that by
Wednesday the pickup times should be earlier
than the time provided to you as our bus
runs become smoother.
We have given a very wide time frame for the
AM busing to prevent parents from being
overly concerned about the bus running late
and calling the office.
We have not released PM arrival times at the
end of the day since we will be very
deliberate (especially during the first week
of camp) with campers boarding their busses
since they are becoming accustomed to the
bus routine. In addition, our drivers will
face the same traffic issues they did during
the morning.
I thank you for your patience and
understanding as I am sure all of you have
had to deal with the frustration (and
unpredictable nature) of Staten Island
traffic congestion.
Please keep in mind that the buses leave at
approximately 4:05 PM. Consequently, please
judge your particular PM arrival time based
upon your distance from the campsite keeping
in mind the stops your child's bus will
make.
Remember, all our vehicles are
air-conditioned.
2.
Campers Arriving At Camp After Attending
School on June 28:
Campers brought to camp after the final
school half-day has concluded on June 28
will be taken home by bus if you opted for
him/her to take the bus.
3.
Campers Who Will Be Picked Up At Camp:
If you will be picking up your child, pickup
time is approximately 4:05 or following the
boarding and release of all our busses.
Please park in the lot near the tennis
bubble and use the rear doors to the
Auxiliary Gym in Bldg. 1R across from the
tennis bubble. You may be asked to show a
photo Id.
4.
Lunch:
Children who will be bringing their lunch to
camp should bring it in a sturdy lunch bag,
with their name on the bag. All
lunches are refrigerated. Parents, who wish
to have their child purchase lunch in the
college dining hall, should place the money
in an envelope bearing your child's name
with preferably the exact change for only
the day he/she will be purchasing lunch.
The lunch menu and prices are on our website
on the Parents Page.
a.
Friday Lunch: On Fridays, the CSI Dining
Service is closed. Therefore, campers will
have two options
i.
"Brown Bag" lunch
ii.
Pizza that we order and sell for $2.25 a
slice.
Campers can bring in a
beverage or purchase one at our canteen.
5.
Camp Shirts
& Camp Bags: For those parents not
attending our Parent Orientation on June
4th, campers needing shirts will receive
them at the end of their first day of camp.
There are still a few camp bags remaining,
which may be purchased on the first day of
camp for $15
6.
Swim Program:
Our swim program begins the second week of
camp on July 6. Pursuant to State Health
Regulations, any individual with shoulder
length hair must wear a bathing cap. Other
items needed for the swim program are a
bathing suit, towel, a dry change, and a bag
for the wet swimsuit and towel.
