The menu you can review is the 2011 menu. The 2012 menu may selections
and prices will change for 2012. It is recommended that parents sending

sized recyclable bag. Please write your child's name and group on the
bag. Large lunch containers/bags are discouraged due to storage space.
Swim Program: Swimming
for 2012 will start on July 10.
Campers need to bring; a bathing suit,
towel and a dry change of clothes. NYC Department of Health regulations
requires a bathing cap for anyone with shoulder length hair or longer. We
suggest that you provide your child with a reinforced bag so he/she can use
this for wet swim articles. A bag of this nature will prevent wet items
from spilling out. Swim tests will be given by our swim instructors the
first day of your camper's swim session.
Releasing of Campers: Release
of campers will be done only through our camp office near room 204 in the
Sports and Recreation Building (1R). A picture ID is required and the person
must be on the release form you filled out when you registered your
child/children. There will be absolutely no releasing of campers between
3:15 PM and 4:00 PM or during swim times. During these times, the
Directors are facilitating the PM dismissal or supervising at the pool and
they cannot be pulled away from these important duties to bring children to
the office. We have included swim times below.

are unsafe for camp activities.
Medication: Medication
sent to camp needs to be clearly labeled and in the original prescription
container. This is for your child's safety. We will keep camper
medications in a locked cabinet but do to insurance restrictions we
cannot administer medication to a camper; we can only assist. With
respect to sunscreen, even though it is on over the counter product, the

Notification of
Bus Time:
Initially,
bus times are approximate. I thank you for your patience and understanding
as I am sure all of you have had to deal with the frustration of Staten
Island traffic congestion.
The buses leave at 4 PM so please judge the PM time accordingly based upon
your distance from the campsite.
All of our vehicles are air conditioned.
Personal Articles: Personal
articles (not required by the camp) and brought to camp are not the
responsibility of the camp or bus company. These items are not necessary
since we have all the supplies and equipment your children need. We do
not want campers bringing personal articles such as games, toys, electronic
devices, etc.
Cell Phones:
Cell phones usage is prohibited by campers and counselors. Cell
phones used during camp hours will be confiscated for the day and returned
upon departure at the end of the day.
Camper Medicals: Camper
medicals are due in our PO Box by June 1st. Do not send your camper
with their medical as they will miss the first half day of camp until they can
reviewed by a director. If you had a wellness check after June 1st1due
to insurance restrictions please get a copy of last years check up and
attach that to the medical form you were sent. Additional copies of the
camper medical can be downloaded from our web site under SIDC Parents. Fax
copies will not be accepted, as they often are not clear.
Parent Emails: Parent
e-mails will be sent home weekly usually on a Sunday to keep you informed as
to what exciting events are going on at camp. These notices can also be
viewed on our web site under SIDC Parents.
Dismissal of Children: Dismissal
of campers riding buses is completed before campers who are picked up by
parents. Our buses depart at approximately 4:00. Parents picking up
children should wait by the entrance to the Auxiliary Gym adjacent to the
tennis bubble. Please remember to bring your photo identification.
Correspondence: It
is best you use emails as a way to communicate with the camp during the
summer. The SIDC e-mail is: sidaycamp@aol.com. This
avoids notes never reaching us or message memos being lost on my desk.
Parent Orientation: Parent
Orientation will be held on June 3 from 5 to 8 PM in the Auxiliary Gym in
Building 1R. This is a question and answer event and a time to pick up your
campers two free t-shirts. You can drop off your child's medicals on that
evening or use it as one of your camp payments if you are on this type of
payment plan.
Parents wishing to purchase extra t-shirts can do so this evening if you
wish for $10 each. We also have a very limited amount of a lined camp bag at
$15 each.
Some e-mails listed on the enrollment form were either omitted or difficult
to We will also have a list of parents with no e-mail address or an e-mail
address that was not discernable and therefore non- functional.
Finally I appreciate all that parents do for their children through extra
curricular activities after camp, but I will not allow a short cut in the
releasing of a camper or allow this process to occur during a time when
there is a great deal of camper movement, please leave yourself enough
time.
Sincerely,
Mike Halpern, Executive Director
